Tomorrow I'm heading to Vegas for a few days with my college roommate. He has spring break from med school, and I certainly don't mind pretending that I also have spring break, at least for a couple of days. Needless to say, I won't be updating the blog for the next few days (unfortunately I don't have a similar reason for not updating it much the past two weeks), but wish me luck. Hopefully I will return with a few good pictures, a few good stories, and a little extra cash. If you've got any suggestions of places to find cheap food, blackjack, or drinks, please leave a comment. I'll have my Blackberry with me so I can follow up on any ideas you may have.

Good luck at the tables. I love playing a little blackjack. My first time at a casino I went up nearly $2,000 before hitting an unlucky streak and falling back down to even. I can't offer any Vegas suggestions because I have never been, but I hope to go within the next year.
I was in Vegas last week for a conference. Frankly, I would never spend one cent of my own money to go back there. If there is any place tackier than Myrtle Beach, it's Vegas.
The primary purpose of Vegas is to seperate you from your money. That said, I hung out with a pal there last year (same conference). He's a craps enthusiast, and we did much better at the off-strip casinos that cater to locals. I think Boulder Junction was the pace we did best.

Don't really care for Vegas, agree tackier than...well, anywhere, but it's a place everyone who travels ought to at least drive through once, preferably at night
i lived and worked there at the Beatles Revolution Lounge, for a year, and got to know the best and worst of vegas. i don't gamble in cities i work in, so i recommend you go hiking in red rocks state park, check out the neon sign graveyard, go downtown to the griffin bar and the beauty bar for low key cocktails and hipster dance parties, go to the double down saloon near the hard rock and have a bacon martini at 5am, and go to in-n-out burger. go to chinatown off spring mountain road, just across the highway from the mirage and have korean bbq. and def go see LOVE.
LOVE your blog, have fun!
Trip, go to New York New York and play the $10 single deck Blackjack tables mid-afternoon. Same with the Venetian. Earlier in the day you will find lower minimum tables, and for a greenhorn like me the single deck tables are a little slower pace and the dealers tend to be friendlier. Of course, if you are a high roller playa, Bellagio all the way.
Good luck
